PHOTOS: Reverend Warnock Continues Statewide “Working for Georgia” Bus Tour in South Georgia, Columbus Area
Reverend Warnock Visits Albany, Americus, And Columbus, Highlights Work to Lower Costs and Protect Georgia Jobs
Atlanta, GA – Yesterday, South Georgia voters and community leaders showed their support for Reverend Warnock as he continued his “Working for Georgia” bus tour with campaign stops in Albany, Americus, and Columbus where he discussed his efforts to protect Georgia jobs and lower costs for Georgia families across the state.
In the Senate, Reverend Warnock fought to pass critical legislation to address Georgians’ costs, supply chain issues, and create and protect Georgia jobs. Reverend Warnock recently fought to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, including his provisions to cap the cost of insulin at $35 per month for Georgians on Medicare and cap out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for seniors. He also fought to pass the jobs and competition bill, which was recently signed into law and will invest in domestic manufacturing, protect Georgia jobs, and reduce reliance on foreign nations like China.
Hear what community leaders are saying about Reverend Warnock’s work for to protect and grow Georgia jobs and lower costs:
ALBANY
Reverend Warnock kicked off the day with Georgians and community leaders in Albany.
Freddie Sims, State Senator: “Senator Warnock has been a warrior for us. He has fought to reduce drug costs, and we all know that when we go to take medications, especially those of us that are my age and older, it’s ridiculous, the amount of money and the choices that we have to make in order to stay alive. And we appreciate what he has done. We appreciate the fact that he’s fighting corporate greed to make sure that we have what we need.”
Reverend Warnock stopped for a meeting with local faith leaders.
AMERICUS
Reverend Warnock rallied with supporters in Americus.
COLUMBUS
Reverend Warnock ended the day with a rally in Columbus.
Representative Sanford Bishop (GA-02): “Reverend Warnock is working hard for all of us to have a great future. He is working hard for all of us. He comes from the right background. He’s a humble servant… he’s a minister of public service, and he is going to help us save the soul of America.”
Chair of the Muscogee County Democratic Party Tonza Thomas: “In 1984, my family moved from Providence, Rhode Island to Lumpkin, Georgia — shout out to Stewart County! My grandmother would say, go to the refrigerator, get my insulin and get a needle. At 10 years old I understood that my grandmother’s health care and well being was the responsibility of all of us as a family. Since then, the cost of insulin has skyrocketed. But I wish that my grandmother was alive to see the man that we sent to Washington D.C. to put a cap at $35 a month, and that person is Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock.”
District 7 City Council Member Mimi Woodson: “We’re here to recognize a man of God that believes in his people and understands our needs. A man that has already proven himself by supporting projects that Georgia jobs. I’m talking about someone who knows our needs, someone to speak for us because he understands the struggles we have when we wake up every morning to feed our children, to educate our children, and to provide a decent home.”
State Representative Debbie Buckner (HD-137): “We are number one in agriculture. We grow blueberries, we grow peaches, we grow cotton, and pecans. We are number one in all of those categories. But if the fuel prices have not been addressed tractors can’t be in the field, irrigation systems can’t run, and if they grow the crop, they can’t get into the market. So Senator Warnock has worked on real issues that real people need help with. And that’s the kind of U.S. senator I think we need from Georgia.”
State Representative Carolyn Hugley (HD-136): “Senator Warnock is getting it done for Georgia. Whether it’s working to ease supply chain issues or cracking down on corporate greed or capping out of pocket costs for prescription drugs, he is doing it for us. Senator Warnock hit the ground running when he got to Washington, and he’s been fighting with Georgia ever since. In just one year, he’s become a leader because he leads with his values and works with all of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle. Senator Warnock pushed for the jobs and the competition bill — that’s important to the people of West Georgia. This law boosts manufacturing jobs, strengthens our supply chains, and it reduces our reliance on foreign nations.”
