WATCH: Reverend Warnock Secures Crucial Investment For Brookhaven Police Department to Hire Six New Officers
Atlanta, GA – Yesterday, Reverend Warnock joined the Brookhaven Police Department to announce funding he helped secure to give the department the ability to hire six new officers.

Savannah Levins, 11Alive Atlanta: “Raphael Warnock was in Brookhaven today announcing a $750,000 grant in federal funds he was able to help secure for the Brookhaven Police Department. So, this money will help the department hire six new police officers. It’s all a part of the Community Oriented Police Services program that Senator Warnock really championed. And he says this will help smaller police departments, like Brookhaven, better protect their communities.
Reverend Warnock: This piece of legislation, which has already passed the House, already passed the Senate, will focus on smaller police departments, so that they can get the personnel that they need.

Reporter Newspapers & Atlanta Intown: Brookhaven receives grant funding to hire police officers
- The city of Brookhaven is preparing to hire new police officers thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.
- On Oct. 13, The DOJ announced funding for what’s called Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) COPS Hiring Program (CHP), according to a press release.
- The funding goes to law enforcement agencies across the country. The Brookhaven Police Department received $750,000 toward the hiring of six police officers.
- “The catalyst for the funding for these additional officers was Brookhaven’s congressional delegation,” said Mayor John Ernst in a press release.
- “Brookhaven becomes an even safer place thanks to the advocacy of Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, and Representative Lucy McBath.”
