FACT CHECK: While Reverend Warnock Fights For Military Heroes, Herschel Walker Lies About Connection to For-Profit Program That “Preyed Upon” and “Defrauded” Veterans and Service Members

The Associated Press: Walker’s Veteran Mental Health Organization,Preyed On Veterans And Service Members While Defrauding The Government.”

Savannah, GA — Herschel Walker’s desperate and false attacks against Reverend Warnock are an attempt to distract from his own record working with a for-profit program that “preyed upon” and “defrauded” veterans.

Herschel Walker has repeatedly lied about founding a charity for veterans — when in reality, he made a fortune last year, and the decade prior, serving as a spokesperson for a private hospital chain’s for-profit program that “preyed upon veterans and service members while defrauding the government” — and was involved with yet another company that “may also have targeted veterans in a multilevel marketing scheme.”

Meanwhile, as the son of an Army veteran, Reverend Warnock is leading the fight for Georgia’s veterans and military families in the Senate. He’s brought the voices and concerns of Georgia’s veterans and servicemembers to the forefront of his work in the Senate, from leading the fight to make the PACT Act law to introducing bipartisan legislation to protect benefits for surviving military spouses and pushing back against President Biden’s proposed cuts to the Savannah Combat Readiness Training Center, protecting vital military jobs.

Fox 5 Atlanta:  “[Walker] boasts of that charity work. His organization aims to help members of the military who struggle with mental health…but the Associated Press reports it’s not a charity at all, it’s an arm of a for-profit hospital chain. Court documents show the company has a checkered history, treating veterans and reached a $100 million settlement after the justice department sued for improperly treating patients.”
