Kelly Loeffler Voted To Let Anti-ACA Lawsuit Move Forward, Warnock Would Ensure Protections For Pre-Existing Conditions

Atlanta, GA – In the middle of a pandemic and with rural hospitals struggling to stay afloat, unelected Senator Kelly Loeffler continues to undermine the Affordable Care Act and protections for 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions.

In October, Loeffler followed through on her pledge to stand with Trump 100% and voted to support a lawsuit to overturn the ACA and end insurance protections for Georgians with pre-existing conditions like diabetes, asthma, and breast cancer.

Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church and Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate Reverend Raphael Warnock has been a strong supporter of affordable, quality health care for all and will fight in the Senate to protect pre-existing conditions.

Here are the facts:

  • Kelly Loeffler voted against a bill to prohibit the Justice Department from arguing in courts to invalidate or overturn the  Affordable Care Act.
  • The Republican lawsuit, if successful, would result in hundreds of thousands of Georgians losing their health care and end guaranteed health care coverage  for the 1.8 million Georgians with pre-existing conditions.
  • Since becoming pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Warnock has made access to quality, affordable health care a top issue in his ministry and advocacy. Before running for Senate, he advocated against proposed cuts to the children’s health insurance program.
  • Warnock would work to make it easier to expand Medicaid in Georgia, which analysis shows would provide over 500,000 Georgians access to critical care and could have prevented nine rural hospitals from closing, two of which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
