After Calling Unemployment Relief “Counterproductive,” Loeffler Let Nearly Nine Months Go By Without Relief For Struggling Georgians
ICYMI: “Unemployed Georgians approaching Dec. 26 financial cliff” – MORE HERE from the AJC
Atlanta, GA – Today, Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church and U.S. Senate candidate Reverend Raphael Warnock issued the statement on the anticipated agreement that Congress has reached to pass long overdue federal COVID-19 relief — without any involvement from unelected Senator Kelly Loeffler, who has spent her time on the campaign trail during on-going relief negotiations in Washington.
“More federal support can’t come quickly enough for struggling Georgia families, workers and small businesses, and while the agreement falls short of what Georgians need, I’m hopeful that Congress quickly passes this relief measure and gets these funds out the door to our state,” said Reverend Warnock. “But make no mistake, Kelly Loeffler deserves no applause for allowing nearly nine months to pass without relief and spending the last few days on the campaign trail trying to save her job instead of doing her job in Washington. For Georgians to get on the other side of this crisis, we need a Senator who will put what’s best for our state ahead of what is best for herself.”
