REMINDER: After Criticizing COVID-19 Relief for Georgia Families, Herschel Walker Lines His Own Pockets With Same Funds
SAVANNAH, GA – Herschel Walker continues misrepresenting Reverend Warnock’s record — as well as his own. Reverend Warnock was instrumental in helping deliver critical relief to Georgia families that kept Georgians healthy, and helped workers and businesses navigate our changing economy. Meanwhile, Herschel Walker and his enterprises collectively benefited from the same pandemic relief that he repeatedly criticized to the tune of more than ten million dollars.
Here are the facts:
- Senator Warnock was instrumental in passing crucial pandemic relief that, in part, provided a historic tax cut to working families benefiting more than 2 million Georgia children, and increased funding for the business-saving Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) while also expanding the program to more organizations.
- This vital COVID-19 relief provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in forgivable loans to Georgians, totaling tens of billions of dollars in aid to small businesses to keep their lights on and workers employed during the pandemic.
- At the same time, despite mocking businesses for taking PPP loans, Herschel Walker took hundreds of thousands of dollars in PPP loans himself and sat on the board of a company that took “more than $9.7 million while, at the same time, laying off 90% of its hotel staff.”
