“McConnell congratulates Biden, warns Senate Republicans not to reject president-elect’s victory”—MORE from CNBC HERE
Atlanta, GA – Reverend Raphael Warnock issued the statement below following Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s admission today that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the November election:
“Today Mitch McConnell and Republicans in the Senate did what Kelly Loeffler still refuses: acknowledge that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won. Once again, I’m calling on Senator Loeffler to join me in honoring the will of voters in Georgia and across the nation by finally accepting the results of the presidential election and respecting the will of Georgia voters.”
Reverend Warnock’s statement comes on the heels of President-Elect Joe Biden’s visit to Georgia, where he criticized unelected Senator Kelly Loeffler’s on-going actions to undermine the results of Georgia’s election. It also comes a day after the Electoral College affirmed that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be the next President and Vice President of the United States, and following the Georgia State Supreme Court’s decision to deny a lawsuit from the Republican Party seeking to overturn the results of Georgia’s election. During last week’s debate, Senator Loeffler repeatedly dodged questions about the results of the presidential election, and refused multiple times to acknowledge that President Donald Trump lost the November election in Georgia, despite three recounts affirming the outcome.
