Senate Challenger Warnock Outraises Loeffler, Collins For Second Quarter Straight

Warnock, a first-time candidate, raised more money than political insiders Loeffler and Collins combined

Atlanta, GA – Reverend Raphael Warnock, U.S Senate candidate and Senior Pastor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, was the top fundraising candidate in the Georgia special Senate Election for the second quarter in a row. Warnock, who raised nearly $3 million in the Second Quarter, more than doubled Doug Collins’ cash haul this quarter and outpaced Kelly Loeffler in contributions by almost $2 million. With more than $2.9 million cash on hand, Warnock starts the Third Quarter with more resources in the bank than Collins and hasn’t lent himself a penny, unlike Loeffler.

As he continues to consolidate support from state and national Democrats, Warnock’s fundraising success is the latest marker of the enthusiasm for his candidacy and Georgia’s competitiveness. Earlier this week, the majority of the U.S. Senate’s Democratic Caucus endorsed his campaign, while last week independent analysts at Inside Elections, Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved Georgia races toward Democrats.

  • Collins was out-raised over the three-month period by Democrat Raphael Warnock, the pastor of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church. He said earlier this month he’ll report raising nearly $3 million during the span between April and June.
  • The Democrat turned heads in April when he raised more cash Collins and Loeffler in the first quarter. Loeffler is expected to add another $5 million to the $10 million she’s pumped into her campaign.

Warnock launched his campaign for the U.S. Senate in January 2020, and independent analysts at Cook Political immediately moved the race to one of the most competitive in the nation. Reverend Warnock outraised every candidate – Democrat and Republican – for the special election in the first fundraising quarter this year. He’s also earned support from leaders across the state including Stacey Abrams, Congressman John Lewis, Ambassador Andrew Young, Jason Carter and countless local officials. In addition to robust support from Georgians, he is backed by Planned Parenthood, End Citizens United, Democracy for America, the Congressional Black Caucus as well as Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn and multiple United States Senators, including Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand and Cory Booker.

About Reverend Warnock

Reverend Raphael Warnock grew up in Kayton Homes public housing in Savannah. Fourteen years ago, he was chosen to serve as Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, the former pulpit of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He is only the fifth Senior Pastor in the history of the church and the youngest pastor ever selected to serve in that position. Reverend Warnock believes his service does not stop at the church door, and has been an advocate to expand health care coverage and to ensure hardworking Georgians can make a living wage. As Senator, Reverend Warnock will bring to Washington the concerns of struggling Georgia families who wonder why no one is looking out for them, and focus on fighting for quality, affordable health care, for the dignity of working people who are paid too little as our government works more for Wall Street, and to make sure every voice is heard.
