Warnock For Georgia Announces October 13 Date For Macon Debate, While Herschel Walker Still Refuses To Say He’ll Participate

Walker Has Repeatedly Said He Would Debate, But Now He And His Team Are Adding “Ifs” and Stipulations To Avoid Doing So

Atlanta, GA –  Today, Warnock for Georgia announced that the Macon debate hosted by the Mercer University Center for Collaborative Journalism will be held on October 13, 2022. While Reverend Warnock continues to move forward with scheduling debates with Georgia media, Herschel Walker is still refusing to debate, even though “long before he won the nomination, Walker repeatedly vowed he would debate Warnock.” 

Over the last week and a half, Walker and his campaign added “ifs” and stipulations that led observers to confirm that Walker “still hasn’t confirmed any dates,” that he “sidestepped, ”waffled” and was “laying the groundwork for him not doing debates this fall.” 

“While Herschel Walker continues to refuse to debate, Reverend Warnock and our campaign team continue to work with Georgia media to ensure that voters have the opportunity to see the clear choice they have in this critical election,” said Quentin Fulks, Warnock for Georgia campaign manager. “If Herschel Walker is too scared to debate the issues that matter most to the people of Georgia, he clearly isn’t ready to represent Georgians in the U.S. Senate.” 

Yesterday, Warnock for Georgia released a new TV ad highlighting Walker’s continued refusal to debate Reverend Warnock. 

As a reminder, here are the debates Reverend Warnock has committed to: 

• Reverend Warnock has also accepted the invitation of the Mercer University Center for Collaborative Journalism to debate on October 13, 2022. The debate will be hosted by Mercer University in partnership with the newsrooms of 13WMAZ, 11Alive WXIA, Georgia Public Broadcasting, The Macon Telegraph, WMUB and The Macon Newsroom. The debate will be broadcast statewide and available for streaming. 

• Reverend Warnock has accepted the invitation of the Atlanta Press Club to debate on Sunday, October 16, 2022. The Atlanta Press Club regularly hosts debates in Georgia. The debate will be broadcast statewide and available for streaming.

• Reverend Warnock has accepted the invitation of his hometown station WTOC Savannah. The debate will be broadcast statewide and available for streaming. The date for this debate is to be determined.
