WHAT GEORGIANS ARE SEEING: In “Predictable Cycle,” Another New Report Hanging Over Herschel Walker’s Campaign

Yesterday, A Second Woman Says Walker Paid For, Drove Her To Have Abortion

Atlanta, GA — In what’s become a “predictable cycle” for Herschel Walker, a second woman came forward alleging that Walker pressured her to have an abortion and paid for it, marking the latest report in a long string of false claims and questions around his record that continue to hurt his candidacy – including about his business record, his academic record, his record “working for law enforcement” and more.

Walker’s faced scrutiny throughout his campaign for a pattern of false claims and disturbing behavior – all of which he’s refused to answer or take responsibility for. Notably, he still hasn’t filed a defamation lawsuit following a report he paid for a different woman’s abortion in 2009.

Here is what Georgians are seeing and reading about these new allegations

Heidi Paxson, WALB: As election day approaches, a second woman has come forward with allegations against Georgia republican Senate candidate Hersch Walker today. Walker denying the allegation during a rally stop in Georgia today. Attorney Gloria Allred claims that her client “Jane Doe” allegedly had a romantic relationship with Walker and that he drove her to a clinic to have an abortion after she became pregnant during their relationship. This is the second woman in weeks to say she had an abortion after becoming pregnant with Walker’s child, although he has called both claims lies.

Gloria Allred: Oh why is she coming out now? Because as she says she feels she needs to tell her truth at this point. It was a difficult decision, she pondered over a very significant period of time.

Heidi Paxson, WALB: Walker says he is done with this foolishness and not going to entertain this lie. Warnock’s team responded to the allegations saying, quote `We know Herschel Walker has a problem with the truth, a problem answering questions, and a problem taking responsibility for his actions’ end quote.

Watch Fox 5 Atlanta’s Coverage HERE

Christine Sperow, Fox 5: New tonight, Republican candidate Herschel Walker says a second woman claiming he pressured her to have an abortion is lying.

Tom Haynes, Fox 5: It’s another major blow to the Senate hopeful who is championed on his strict pro-life stance. Fox5’s Russ Spencer is at the live desk. Russ, tell us what Walker said earlier tonight.

Russ Spencer, Fox 5: Well Tom and Christine, this new accusation comes just weeks after a former girlfriend accused Walker of the same thing in 2009. He is dismissing the latest claim as foolishness and all a lie, as he says. The woman who came forward is identified only as Jane Doe. She says she is not revealing her identity because she fears retaliation against herself, her family, and her livelihood. She said in a call set up by her lawyer, Gloria Allred, that Walker pressured her into an abortion in 1993, paid for the procedure, and waited in the parking lot for her. The woman claims she had a six year relationship with the candidate while he was married to his first wife.

Jane Doe: For anyone who believes, I am coming forward because Herschel is running as a republican candidate, that is simply not the case. I am a registered independent and I voted for Donald Trump in both elections. I do not believe that Herschel is morally fit to be a U.S. Senator and that is the reason why I am speaking up and providing proof.

Riley Miller, WJCL Savannah: Tonight, a second woman is coming forward claiming Senate candidate Herschel Walker helped her get an abortion. This coming just days before the midterm elections, Walker now facing another abortion controversy. The news broke during a virtual press conference held by high profile attorney Gloria Allred from California. The woman, who remains anonymous, claims she had a romantic relationship with Walker for six years. She also said in 1993 Walker gave her cash for an abortion and also drove her to the clinic. A recording from the woman was played at the press conference as well.

Jane Doe: After discussing the pregnancy with Herschel several times, he encouraged me to have an abortion and gave me the money to do so. I am coming forward now because I saw Herschel deny the allegations by another woman who claimed that he had paid for her abortion.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Second woman says Herschel Walker pressured her to have abortion

  • The woman’s identity was not revealed because she said she fears reprisals.
  • “Herschel Walker is a hypocrite and he is not fit to be a U.S. senator. We don’t need people in the U.S. Senate who profess one thing and do another,” the woman said. “Herschel Walker says he is against women having abortions, but he pressured me to have one.”
  • The woman said she was a supporter of former President Donald Trump and that her decision to come forward wasn’t politically motivated. Instead, she said she doesn’t believe Walker is “morally fit to be a U.S. senator and that is the reason why I am speaking up and providing proof.”
  • “Mr. Walker clearly wanted her to have an abortion and convinced her to do so,” Allred said. She said he gave her cash and she went to a clinic in Dallas, but she decided against it.
  • “She became overwhelmed with emotion. She could not go through with it. And she left the clinic in tears,” Allred said.
  • Allred said Walker was “upset” and pressured her to return to the clinic to go through with the abortion. The following day, Walker drove her to the clinic and waited in the parking lot for hours until she emerged.
  • After that, Allred said, he distanced himself from the woman and later sent her a note apologizing. That note wasn’t displayed at the press conference.
  • She is the second woman to come forward anonymously to claim that Walker urged her to have the procedure after becoming pregnant by him. That other woman, who has declined to speak to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, told other news outlets that Walker paid for her 2009 abortion and urged her to have a second.

Georgia Recorder: Second woman says Herschel Walker paid for her abortion after pressuring her to end pregnancy

  • Another woman has come forward with claims that Republican U.S. Senate candidate Herschel Walker – who has expressed anti-abortion positions – pressured her to have an abortion nearly three decades ago.
  • She said she met Walker, who was married at the time, in the 1980s when he played for the Cowboys and she lived in Dallas. They started a romantic relationship in 1987, and she found out in 1993 that she was pregnant.
  • She said she was not sure what to do but that Walker encouraged her to have an abortion and gave her cash to do so.
  • “I went to a clinic in Dallas, but I simply couldn’t go through with it. I left the clinic in tears,” she said during the press conference. “When I told Herschel what had happened, he was upset and said that he was going to go back with me to the clinic the next day for me to have the abortion. He then drove me to the clinic the following day and waited for hours in the parking lot until I came out.
  • “I was devastated because I felt that I had been pressured into having an abortion,” she said.
  • To support the claim, Allred held up a hotel receipt from the woman’s stay in Mankato, Minnesota when Walker was at training camp while with the Vikings as well as a photo of Walker lying on what Allred said was the hotel room bed. Allred said other “exhibits” are greeting cards, including one signed with “H”. Copies of these documents were not provided to reporters who were invited to participate in the press conference through Zoom.
  • The revelation comes just three weeks after the Daily Beast reported that Walker paid a woman to have an abortion in 2009. The woman was not identified in the first report but later revealed that she is the mother of one of Walker’s children after Walker denied her story.
  • Walker denied the new claims as well. He told reporters on the campaign trail Wednesday that the allegations were “foolishness,” but reporters there say he did not take questions.
  • But the woman said she decided to share her story after seeing Walker deny the first claim he paid for a former girlfriend to have an abortion. She said she was particularly struck by his comments claiming to not sign cards with an initial.
  • She said she does not have partisan motives, saying she voted for former President Donald Trump in both elections.
  • “Herschel Walker is a hypocrite and he is not fit to be a U.S. senator. We don’t need people in the U.S. Senate who profess one thing and do another. Herschel Walker says he is against women having an abortion, but he pressured me to have one,” she said.

Associated Press: Herschel Walker faces abortion allegation from 2nd accuser

  • A woman came forward Wednesday to accuse Herschel Walker, the anti-abortion Republican running for U.S. Senate in Georgia, of encouraging and paying for her 1993 abortion — an accusation that came just weeks after a former girlfriend said he did the same for her in 2009.
  • The candidate vehemently denied a claim earlier this month from a different woman who said Walker paid for and encouraged her abortion in 2009, two years before she gave birth to their son.
  • The second accuser, identified only as “Jane Doe,” spoke to reporters via an audio Zoom call arranged by her attorney Gloria Allred. She alleged that Walker, a former college and professional football star making his first bid for public office, pressured her into an abortion and paid for one after she became pregnant during the course of their six-year relationship.
  • “The reason I am here today is because he has publicly taken the position that he is ‘about life’ and against abortion under any circumstances when, in fact, he pressured me to have an abortion and personally ensured that it occurred by driving me to the clinic and paying for it,” Doe said.
  • “I do not believe that Herschel is morally fit to be a U.S. senator and that is the reason why I am speaking up and providing proof,” she said.
  • Doe said partisan allegiances were not a factor in her decision to come forward. She called herself a registered independent and said she voted twice for former President Donald Trump, a Republican who endorsed Walker.
