WATCH: Walker Tell Reporters “I Haven’t Committed” to Debates

After Claiming He’d Debate “Any Day Of The Week,” Walker Now Refusing to Commit

Atlanta, GA –  Herschel Walker again refused to commit to debates after his repeated comments that he would do so “any day of the week,” telling reporters today “I haven’t committed” to debating Reverend Warnock.

Walker was asked if he would participate in the Atlanta Press Club debate on October 16, one of three debates Reverend Warnock has already committed to. While Walker has claimed he’d debate “any day of the week” and that he’s “ready to go whenever… name the place and the time,” today he made clear that is not the case.

Read the transcript of Walker’s comment below:

Reporter: I just wanna ask you about debates. You recently said, ‘anytime you place.’ The Atlanta Press Club has set their debate for October 16th. Have you committed to that?

Walker: I haven’t committed to it because I don’t let the Atlanta set their debate. They gonna have to negotiate with my people. You know, it is not just them setting. They gotta talk with us as well. I think one thing that people gotta remember is I just don’t do as they say, I’m running a campaign just like I wanna run it. And I told him I’m ready to debate him whenever he is ready to debate. He tell me the time when it shows up, not the Atlanta Debate Club or whatever they are.

Reporter 2: Can I follow up on the debate question?

Walker : Yes, sir.

Reporter: So you said that you would let Warnock set the, the time.

Walker: Well, whenever he want a debate, I’m saying I’m ready to debate. He’s gonna talk to my people and, and we’ll be ready to debate. Have anybody asked him when he wanted to debate? Have you found out?

Reporters: He agreed.

Walker: He agreed to three debates. And I said, well, we need to get, sit down. And they need to negotiate with my people. We’ll be ready to go. I don’t know if they– have they agreed on a date?

Staff: Not yet.

Reporter 2: Do you have any intention of dodging debates?

Walker: Oh no. I don’t dodge anything. I’ve never dodged anything. I didn’t even dodge in the primary. I didn’t deserve to do a debate in the primary. Cause my primary opponent didn’t do the work they were supposed to do. That’s what I was told. I did. Right now, I said when Warnock is ready to debate and he agreed on three debates. Have he agreed on a time?

Reporter 1: Yeah. He’s agreed on a date.

Walker: Oh, he’d agreed on a date?

Reporter 1: Yes.

Walker: What date did he agree?

Reporter 1: October 16th.

Walker: October the 16th. So if we negotiating, we got everything right? We’ll be debating on October the 16th. I’ll be ready to go.

Staff: Okay great, thank you guys.
